INTERPIPE STEEL mill has launched a unique project, called the “Steel Academy” – a training program for fifth-year students without giving up their studies at the principal place of education. In the course of this program all participants will have a possibility to get integrated into the profession they have chosen and to get practical skills at the most up-to-date Ukrainian metallurgical facility.

25 persons out of more than two hundred candidates have been chosen for participation in this project. Such selection process has included four stages, resulting in the selection of a group of the most proactive, ambitious, and well-educated students.

The program consists of a cycle of theoretical disciplines and a number of practical lessons and workshops, conducted at the mill’s facilities. 14 trainers will lecture the theory to the “Steel Academy” students for a period of two and a half months. Then the guys will move on to the practical studies for a period of approximately half a year – this training will be conducted by a number of production experts of the mill. After the completion of both theoretical and practical classes the guys are expected to take final exams, by passing which all students are going to get nationally accepted certificates on each of professions they have mastered.

“Steel Academy” applicants have undergone a quite tough selection process and got an opportunity to get integrated into the profession they have chosen without giving up their studies at their higher education institutions and without losing their scholarships, allocated by the government. Such opportunity will definitely raise their competitiveness at the labor market. And our employees – coaches and trainers – will do their best to help them in achievement of these objectives in every possible way” – Elena Tsebinoga, INTERPIPE STEEL Deputy Manager on HR and Social Issues, has commented.
