First INTERPIPE Dnipro Half Marathon 2016 took place in Dnepropetrovsk


On Sunday, May 22 INTERPIPE Dnipro Half Marathon 2016 took place in Dnepropetrovsk. Interpipe became a title sponsor. More than 1400 participants from 9 countries with 250 children among them came to the start of the eight distances.


“In our city was a landmark event – first INTERPIPE Dnipro Half Marathon 2016. Our city has ever seen such level of cross-country events. The city authorities, together with the organizers, the company Run Ukraine, made every effort to ensure the safety of participants and spectators. I hope that in the autumn in the city a full marathon will be held,” – Boris Filatov, the mayor of Dnepropetrovsk, shared his impressions of the event.
 “We have done this! On the map of running Ukraine appeared new event - INTERPIPE Dnipro Half Marathon 2016. We appreciate this, friends. Today we became the witnesses of unique synergy of organizators, volunteers, business and city authorities. See you next year!” – Dmitriy Chernitskiy, Run Ukraine Manager and INTERPIPE Dnipro Half Marathon 2016 founder, commented.

Today the culture of urban marathons joined, finally, and Dnepropetrovsk. This year local citizens did not need to go to Kiev, and even more so - in London or Berlin. It was enough to come into the center of their native city. And we are proud to be involved in this event ", - Dmitriy Kisilevskiy, Interpipe Director of Corporate Affairs, said.

 Among participants were TV presenters of 1+1 channel – Anatoliy Anatolich and Marina Leonchuk, Olympic medalist Irina Leschinskaya, and wife of Dnepropetrovsk mayor Marina Filatova. On the distance of 2 km 29 wheelchair athletes came.
Totally in the event program were 4 adult runs: 21,0975, 10, 5 and 2 km, along with children: 1000, 500 and 100 m. 23 000 UAH - half marathon prize fund.



Among participants of half marathon were Interpipe employees with their families. 104 adults and 57 children from Dnepropetrovsk, Novomoskovsk and Nikopol came on the track in the yellow shirts. Totally they ran 677 km. Interpipe adults ceded leadership on 10 and 21 km distances more prepared opponents, and children took three prizes.
