Ukrainians will take part in the restoration of the Houston infrastructure
On October 2, a group of employees of the Ukrainian industrial company Interpipe has flown to the US to help restore the infrastructure of Houston after the Hurricane Harvey. Fourteen Ukrainian citizens will take part in the clean-up operations after the disaster that hit the city in late August.
Ukrainians will work at the 4 Walls Restoration organization, established by the local business entities to help the victims. It helps the elderly in the northwestern part of Houston, who did not have any insurance against natural disasters. Interpipe employees will clean up debris, clear the flooded houses, and carry out the gypsum-plasterboard and paint works.
“North American Interpipe, our subsidiary company in the US, has been based in Houston for many years. After this natural disaster, our office there had water up to the second storey of its building. Our partners, customers, and employees were harmed by the hurricane. While being a part of this country and working in the US, we consider that help in such a situation is our duty”, said Interpipe CEO Fadi Hraibi. – “Certain formalities have prevented us from sending our employees earlier. But even now Houston experiences a shortage of labor force – so there is a lot of work, where the help of our people is in demand”.
The first group of six employees from the Ukrainian production facilities of Interpipe has flown to the US on October 2 and will stay there for about two weeks. After that, the second group of the company’s employees will arrive to Houston.
The American office of Interpipe is located in Houston. During the hurricane period, it was forced to stop its operations and restored them only on September 10.
