Interpipe developed and shipped new type of wheelsets for Spain
Ukrainian industrial company Interpipe has developed and shipped the first batch of ULT SP wheelsets designed for Spanish market.
This new design is a part of our own Ultimate product line created for freight cars. In October, Interpipe successfully completed all tests and certification of ULT SP wheelsets in European testing centers and certification bodies.
It is designed specifically for the Iberian gauge, which is used by the railways in Spain, Portugal and partially in France. Its peculiarity is that it is wider than the European one - 1668 mm versus 1435 mm, therefore it requires a special design of wheelsets.
In addition to modification of the wheel itself, Interpipe railway division specialists also designed SP G axle structure for Spanish gauge which was not previously produced.
Today, in the Iberian market, local railway operators use wheelsets of outdated design. Interpipe offered its consumers a modern solution that could become the new standard for Spain and Portugal.

- This year Interpipe was tasked by entering a new Spanish market. If in France, Germany, Austria and other European countries we are competing with European manufacturers, the Spanish market was previously inaccessible to us due to the use of the Iberian gauge.
On the European railway products market INTERPIPE has further strengthened its position not only as a manufacturer, but also as a developer of modern types of wheels, axles and wheelsets. The Ultimate line gained popularity and is in demand among customers in many European countries. It has already become a tradition that every year we replenish our line with new types of products that meet the highest international requirements.

Interpipe is global producer of steel pipes and railway wheels, based in Ukraine. The company’s products are marketed in more than 80 countries all around the world via the network of sales offices located in key markets of Ukraine, Europe, North America and the Middle East. In 2018, Interpipe supplied 857 kt of finished goods, including 189 kt of railway products.
Interpipe has 12 thousand people working at the company’s facilities. During 2018 the Company transferred UAH 2.17bln in taxes to budgets of all levels and extra-budgetary funds.
