Ukrainian antitrust body fined Interpipe UAH 69.3 mln

Today, on October 29, 2020, Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (ACU) imposed Ukrainian industrial company Interpipe a fine of UAH 69.3 mln for antitrust law violation.

According to ACU’s decision, the fine was imposed regarding monopoly position abuse at railway wheel supply market.

Interpipe officially states that categorically denied such ACU’s conclusions claiming to challenge this decision in the court.

As national producer we consider ACU’s decision as unfair and unjustified based not on facts but on allegations.

Railway wheel market of Ukraine is opened for supplies from other countries, there are no any imposed import levies.

Applying such claims to ACU unfair competitors are trying to denigrate national producer in order to ensure deliveries from Russian manufacturers to Ukraine. It should be reminded that unlike Ukraine Russian Federation protected its market from Ukrainian wheels by 39 per cent levy.

About the company:
Interpipe is global producer of steel pipes and railway wheels, based in Ukraine. The company’s products are marketed in more than 80 countries all around the world via the network of sales offices located in key markets of Ukraine, Europe, North America and the Middle East. In 2019, Interpipe supplied 798 kt of finished goods, including 203 kt of railway products.

Interpipe has 11 thousand people working at the company’s facilities. During 2019 the Company transferred UAH 3.25bln in taxes to budgets of all levels and extra-budgetary funds.
