The full volume under the KLW brand was designated for Indian Railways, the state-owned enterprise that operates the entire railway network of India.
The one-year contract covered the supply of 1000 mm standard freight wheels for hopper cars and BOXN-type covered wagons.
Logistics was a separate challenge. Most of the wheel volumes were shipped through European seaports, while the last batches went through Ukrainian ones. The shipping crisis in the Red Sea led to an increase in transit time to India, as the newly rebuilt route involved navigation around Africa. Nevertheless, all lots of products were delivered to the customer on time.
Alexander Garkavij, Railway Products Division Director at Interpipe:
- The Company has been a reliable partner of Indian Railways for more than 25 years. This large one-year order was the first since the full-scale Russian invasion into Ukraine began, so it was extremely important for us to fulfill it successfully and ahead of schedule. In January, 2025, we received the next order from Indian Railways, and in general, this year we plan to double the volume of freight wheel deliveries to the railway operator.
