These Teflon rings, sourced in the USA, were integrated into Interpipe’s production process, with threading operations performed at the Interpipe Niko Tube plant.
The project required the introduction of a dedicated technology, including a specialized tool for cutting precision grooves in the couplings. To ensure effective installation of PTFE rings, the connections had to be machined with high precision to form the required profile.
PTFE rings are commonly used to increase external pressure resistance and to serve as a back-up seal for internal pressure. They extend service life and are specified in relevant API standards for certain connection types.
Bartłomiej Kania, OCTG Sales Manager for Continental Europe at Interpipe:
- While widely used in the global oil and gas market, this solution remains highly specialized. By mastering this technology, Interpipe has joined a select group of qualified suppliers capable of delivering this solution alongside industry leaders. The addition of PTFE rings to Interpipe’s portfolio has further strengthened its position as a reliable partner for complex upstream applications.
