Interpipe supplies customized micropiles for bridge renovation in Slovakia
Share the news:
Interpipe, a global producer of steel pipes and railway products based in Ukraine, supplied customized micropiles for arch railway bridge renovation as part of the Slovak Railways' modernization of the 15-kilometre section between Poprad and Vydrník.

Due to challenging subsoil conditions, however, standard-sized piles proved impractical. Interpipe provided an alternative solution: pipes with a diameter of 108 mm used as compact micropiles.

Structural steel S355J2, widely used in construction and machine building due to its balance of strength, weldability, and impact resistance, was required for this project.

Vitaliy Sinelnikov, Pipe Sales Manager for European markets at Interpipe:

- Railway bridges carry the weight of numerous loaded freight and passenger trains and must remain safe in operation for decades. The supporting structure is crucial to a bridge’s long-term integrity. Micropiles can withstand the same loads as traditional piles, while requiring significantly less effort for ground preparation. We’ve already supplied similar solutions for several building contractors in France facing the same challenge.
