KLW adds axle for British heavy-haul trains to its portfolio

KLW has expanded its product line with a new axle developed specifically for the British-designed TF25 railway bogie. Named after the bogie, the TF25 axle is built to handle loads of up to 25.4 tons and supports speeds of up to 120 km/h.

With a higher axle load than the standard European 22.5 tons, this product falls into the heavy-duty category. It shares similar performance characteristics with axles used in ULT 25, ULT SF, BA 314, and BA 303 wheelsets. However, the newly manufactured TF25 axle features a wider diameter of 225 mm to ensure enhanced strength.

Frédéric Simonneau, Railway Products Sales Manager for the European market:

- The original British TF25 bogie has improved noise reduction characteristics and reduces the load on the railway tracks due to its increased axle load. We have already delivered the first two batches of 80 units to France and Germany, where TF25 bogies are also widely used.
