These wheels were used for the repair and modernization of the client’s electric loco fleet and designed to operate at axle loads of up to 21.5 tons and speeds of up to 160 km/h. This batch was produced with full-profile machining and a protective operational coating to enhance corrosion resistance to aggressive environments of a highly continental climate.
Both wheel designs were manufactured from high-performance ER9 steel that combines strength, fatigue resistance, wear resistance, and thermal stability, making it ideal for demanding railway service conditions, complying with EN 13262 standard. To meet customers’ requirements KLW performed complex drilling, needed to accommodate various locomotive types.
